Verbano Tech is a tech boutique focused on backend, automation, and applied AI systems.

Why pods cannot reach Docker Compose services after migrating K3s from Flannel to Cilium

Cilium 1.19.6 GA on Kubernetes 1.36 (K3s) with Docker Engine 29, in a hybrid Compose/Kubernetes estate — a combination we found no published account of at the time of writing. A production field report on a failure mode where the packet is judged one netfilter table earlier than the boundary you own.

Common questions about our services

01Does NIS2 actually apply to my company?
Two ways in. Directly: if you are a medium or large entity in an in-scope sector — manufacturing, food, waste management, digital and others — and ACN has notified you through its platform, you are on the list and the deadline is real. Indirectly: even below the size threshold, entities that are in scope must manage supply-chain risk, so they push the same requirements down to their suppliers by contract. Penalties are tiered: up to EUR 10M or 2% of worldwide turnover for essential entities, up to EUR 7M or 1.4% for important ones, whichever is higher. We do the technical work in both cases. Whether you are classified essential or important is a question for your legal advisor, not for us.
02How do you work?
First we understand the problem, then we design, then we build. We work with clear milestones, direct communication and a single technical lead per project. Remote-first, with on-site presence on request.
03What stack do you use?
Backend: Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Redis. Frontend: Next.js, React. Infra: Docker, CI/CD, cloud or on-premise deploy. We prefer mature, well-documented technologies.
04What does RAG mean?
RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) combines LLMs with your company data. Instead of making up answers, the system searches your documents and responds with real information. It's applied AI, not a demo.
05Do you only work in Italy?
No. We work remote-first with clients in Italy and abroad. We're based between Milan and Varese, but work is distributed.
06Do you work on backends already in production?
Yes. We offer targeted intervention on real problems in live systems: diagnosis, fix, logging/metrics and guidance to prevent regressions. Write us with stack, symptoms and context. Brief triage is free, then milestone-based proposal.
07Do you make websites?
We do frontend when needed for the project (dashboards, backoffice, operational interfaces). We don't do showcase sites, branding or marketing. If you need that, we'll point you to someone who does it better.
